2010 Doll Time Exhibition Saint Petersburg, Russia

I have the honor of joining several other NIADA artists who have been invited to exhibit our work and teach Master Classes at the 2010 Doll Time International Exhibition Saint Petersburg, Russia from June 10-13.

NIADA artists: Reina Mia Brill, Shelley Thornton, Marlaine Verhelst and I will travel to St. Petersburg and participate in one of the most interesting exhibitions of the doll world. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share ideas and techniques with artists from around the world. Plans are being finalized for the classes. 2010 NIADA Annual Conference Chicago, Illinois

We will return to the U.S. just in time for the 2010 NIADA Conference in Chicago July 17-21. I will be teaching classes during the conference. If you are going to be in the Chicago area, and would like to take one of my classes you can sign up at the NIADA website. You don't need to sign up for the entire conference. The annual NIADA conference is always an exciting opportunity to see new work and meet other doll artists. This year the NIADA conference will coincide with the UFDC National Convention.

It promises to be a fun-filled doll extravaganza in the "Windy City." Hope to see you there.

I've had many requests to do workshops in my studio in Upstate New York. Thank you to everyone who has shown such great interest in taking classes. To make it easier to sign up, I've added a registration form and an email link.

The one day workshops begin March 26, 2010. Students will have the option of taking the class on either Friday or Saturday. That way I can accommodate everyone's hectic schedules. To sign up for a workshop, please email me or download the registration form and follow the directions.

Doodle Bird

This a one day class. Please choose either Friday, March 26 or Saturday March 27, 2010

Create a whimsical little bird of your own using my unique felting techniques. We'll explore basic armature making, wet felting and sculptural feltmaking techniques. Embellishment ideas will be offered as well as a discussion on treatments for bases on sculptural pieces.

Workshop fee: $75.00 includes all materials, instructions and supplies to make one delightful 4-inch little bird including the stand.

Supply list: Students bring: one old bath towel (to be used for work surface), sharp scissors, assorted threads and seed beads for embellishing, beading needle and thread.

Origami Purse

This a one day class. Please choose either Friday, April 9 or Saturday April 10, 2010

Create a beautiful purse using traditional Scandinavian feltmaking techniques and unique ways of folding and shaping in origami style. Explore hand embellishment techniques with beads, stitching and accents to produce a personal touch. Finished size 5"x7".

Workshop fee: $75.00 includes all materials, instructions and supplies to make one origami purse.

Dream Fish

This a one day class. Please choose either Friday May 7 or Saturday May 8, 2010.

Fantastic fish leap from your imagination. Create a beautiful felt “Dream Fish” that adds a new dimension to sculpting in this wonderful medium. Your fish will be approximately 5”-6” long. Dyed merino wool is embellished with paint, beads and sinuous silk paper fins that you’ll also learn to make. This class is a lot of fun and combines traditional wet feltmaking techniques with dry needle felting for a unique look and feel. The finished fish makes a wonderful ornamental hanging.

Workshop fee: $75.00 includes all materials, instructions and supplies to make one Dream Fish.
